Laura Douglas
To look back on Laura's music study is to recall the past 22 years. An original violist, she was mentored at an early age by Charlene Welch in private school programs. Laura then went on to study classical viola performance with Jim Hurley and the late Nathan Rubin at Cal State Hayward University. Her early performances include those with San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra (1990 - 1996) twice touring Europe with the orchestra. She has played with Diablo Symphony, Holy Names College Orchestra, Prometheus Orchestra, Diablo Light Opera Company, Crossroads Theatre Association, among other theatre companies. She has performed in over 30 musical productions around The Bay Area. She is a founding member of The Enchanté String Quartet where she says her heart lies. The Quartet has been together in one form or another for nearly 15 years. The highlight of Enchanté was the 2001 KPFA radio show in which the quartet collaborated on an improvisation set. Laura is keenly interested in new styles & techniques, performing the masters, and recording.
